The Literacy Nest is proud and excited to announce that we are an accredited IACET provider!

This is a blog post about Accredited IACET Providers.

What is IACET?

IACET stands for the International Accreditors of Continuing Education and Training. This organization is responsible for the development of the original Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and the development and maintenance of the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. Their mission is to assist continuing education and training providers in “developing a framework for continuous improvement and a superior learning experience for adult learners.”

How We Got Here

Through a rigorous application process in 2021-2022, The Literacy Nest became an accredited provider to award CEUs for the Building Readers For Life summer conference! We are now featured in the IACET directory as an accredited provider.

What is Building Readers for Life?

The Building Readers for Life summer conference is a virtual, asynchronous event. You will learn from highly trained and expert presenters who focus on the science of reading, structured literacy, multisensory teaching, and dyslexia awareness.

Each year, the conference begins at the end of July or early August. You can earn your CEUs by completing the conference within a three-month window of time allotted.

What does this mean for educators who attend the Building Readers For Life Summer Conference?

We all know that as educators, we’re required to participate in professional development to keep our teaching credentials up-to-date. IACET seeks accredited providers to offer professional development opportunities. However, different states have different standards for recertification.

IACET CEUs are currently accepted in the following states:

  • Arizona
  • Georgia
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • New Hampshire
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Vermont

If you are a certified educator in one of the above-listed states and you are seeking professional development opportunities you can attend The Literacy Nest’s summer conference, Building Readers for Life, to earn CEUs.

When you receive your certificate with the CEUs you earned from The Literacy Nest for completing our Building Readers for Life summer conference, the official IACET logo will be listed on it. This certificate can be provided to your school district as proof of continued education when you’re renewing your teaching license!

Next Steps

1. Start talking about it in your district.

If you live and work in one of the above-mentioned states, speak with your school district administrator about how your school or district can attend the Building Readers for Life summer conference to earn CEUs.

We are happy to offer discounts to school districts! Bulk discounts are offered for three or more attendees and purchase orders are accepted!
