Casey & Luz Kilburn

With over 8 years experience as an elementary and middle school ELL/ESL and early literacy teacher, I am so excited for the opportunity to provide engaging and motivating lessons for your child! I am a graduate of North Carolina State University. I received a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation & Program Management with minors in Social Work and Nonprofit Studies. Since graduation, I have had the privilege to travel extensively, managing sport focused health education programs in Zambia and Washington, D.C.; teaching at bilingual schools in Mexico and Honduras; and serving as an ELL teacher for students from Pk-8th grade in Washington, D.C. 

I am most passionate about supporting students with Early Literacy and English Language Learners. I have completed the Orton-Gilingham certification course and firmly believe every child deserves high-quality, research based reading instruction. In every lesson, I include the following essential components: form a strong connection/relationship; implement sequential, research based instruction; engage with games and movement; encourage creative outlets; and incorporate multi-sensory methods. In my spare time, I love rock climbing, practicing yoga, cooking, hiking/all-things outdoors (when it's not too cold!) and cuddling with my 50lb fur baby.
