April Coggins became an educator because she wanted to help other children who, like her son, struggle with dyslexia. She completed a Master's Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities.
For over a decade, April has tutored children with dyslexia. She is a practitioner in the Orton-Gillingham approach as well as other evidence-based methodologies. In 2014, April founded Bright Minds Tutoring in Wilmington, NC specializing in helping children with dyslexia, and in 2019 was featured in Forbes as runner-up for Tutor of the Year.
April is passionate about creating books and resources that help parents and children understand dyslexia and instill a sense of confidence and empowerment in children with dyslexia.
