A few years ago, I took an Orton Gillingham training through AOGPE. While I was taking the course, I had several "aha!" moments that made me realize how great this program is for students. It's estimated that 30% of our students are not reached by the current programs available in schools. If your child does not like to read or is struggling, a different approach is probably the key. Through the methods of Orton Gillingham and  building phonemic awareness students can become strong readers. Every student I have had seems to brighten at the logic of Orton Gillingham and build confidence as they go. This helps make learning much more accessible and fun. 

I have a background in elementary education and hold a professional teaching license with a special education endorsement. I have worked with students from pre-school through 5th grade. I enjoy finding the best ways to help each of my students.
