Katrina Martin

Katrina Martin, MA; Associate/OGA (they/them) has more than 20 years of experience as a tutor. Their passion is helping students feel more confident and calm about school. Katrina's approach is significantly different from traditional tutors, combining the practical with heart-based solutions. For instance, Katrina instructs students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, processing disorders, and other reading and writing struggles using the Orton-Gillingham approach. In addition, Katrina incorporates mindfulness and meditation into sessions when needed, as well as techniques for increasing confidence and decreasing stress. Katrina works with the whole student, helping them meet their goals as well as change their life.

Katrina is Orton-Gillingham trained at the Academy Associate Level and is continuing to work under the mentorship of a fellow. They are a member of the Orton Gillingham Academy.

Before running Katrina Dreamer Tutoring, LLC, Katrina worked in elementary classrooms and was the director of education at a major tutoring center. Their favorite way to teach is in small groups or one-to-one. Katrina received training in mindfulness instruction through Mindful Schools and has taught a test prep class that incorporates mindfulness at the Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) at UC Berkeley; Lake Champlain Waldorf School in Shelburne, VT; and The Berkeley School.
