Hi, My name is Beth. I am a former classroom teacher at a public school on the westside in Manhattan and was the Reading Teacher on the Upper East Side for 13 years. I am trained in both Reading Recovery and Orton Gillingham. The Orton Gillingham approach engages more than one of a child’s senses at a time and that has proven to enhance memory and their ability to learn. Each structured lesson is taught by my direct and explicit instruction, using multi-sensory techniques in reading, writing and spelling. I generally work with Pre-K through 2nd graders. Additionally, I can provide reading reinforcement for children as they embark on their new online learning experience. As the student-teacher relationship shifts I can be there to supplement that experience and provide stability for students who may struggle in this new learning environment. I offer half hour or one hour tutoring sessions using Zoom. Feel free to reach out so we may discuss your child’s needs.
