September is a time for students to learn about apples and the apple life cycle. Set up an easy, non-fiction, literacy center with these Johnny Appleseed task cards!
This literacy resource includes materials for the life of Johnny Appleseed. A non-fiction article about the health benefits of apples accompanies the task cards.
You’ll find a KWL chart for activating prior knowledge, a “Fact File” for building background, and 6 Johnny Appleseed task cards to read and answer questions. I recommend laminating the Johnny Appleseed task cards, as well as the answer sheet to make them longer lasting. You may wish to pair students up to make this a more cooperative learning activity, or just use them in a small group.
Use the Johnny Appleseed writing activities as an assessment, or for adding to interactive notebooks.
